Parkinson, Rosemary
Rosemary Parkinson was born in Venezuela to Trinidadian parents. She was educated in Venezuela, Barbados, and England and is a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her varied work career includes being a bilingual secretary, fashion buyer and designer, graphic and visual artist, photographer and author. She has lived in England, Germany, Canada, Trinidad, Jamaica and Barbados and has travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean.
She has published two major books on Caribbean cuisine. The first title, Culinaria: The Caribbean, appeared in 1999 and is a ground-breaking culinary tour of the Caribbean from north to south that started a major interest in Caribbean cooking, its history and accomplishments. Her second book, Nyam Jamaica, was published in 2008 and provides a parish by parish exploration of the cultural cooking traditions of Jamaica.
